This essay describes the growth and development of the city of Riyadh Saudi Arabia. The ancient is compared with the modern with great detail. Riyadh is the home of my birth. A desert city, it was one of the first areas in Saudi Arabia to be developed. The memories of my youth are dirt streets with Arabian men in traditional clothes and women dressed in black. Very rarely could I hear the engine of an automobile because most people traveled on foot or on the back of a beast of burden. Food and water were always in short supply and buildings were shacks without carpets of windows. Many people has no homes and lived in tents and a Bedouin camp was not an unusual site, but the peaceful calm of tradition would have to give way to modernization. This personal descriptive essay describes an Arabian student's friend names Tariq. IT is best suited for an introductory class or an ESL class. Tariq didn't appear to be anything special on the surface. He was short and too heavy. He had a shock of curly hair and it seemed that he was breaking out in acne before everything else. I looked at him and sometimes I wanted to laugh, but I got to know him so well that his physical appearance really did not mean anything and I was very glad to have him as a friend.

An Arabic student tells the tale of purchasing a motorcycle in Seattle and being immediately hurt. He also discusses his father's reactions. The 1200 SE was beautiful. It had a teal green tank, black striping, chrome pipes, and gold decals. The bike glistened in the sun, ran loud and got the attention of almost everyone. We knew that we had made a good deal and we owned a bike that we could be proud of. We were so proud of it that we went immediately to show it off. An hour after we bought the bike, we decided that we would go to Renton to the speed track for motorcycles. We drive to Rundown and paid our $10 fees. Then we started to race the bike on the course. I was the first one to ride it and I got it up to 80 miles per hour. I started going faster and when I got to about 90 miles per hour, I was facing a wall. I saw the wall, but I did not see the 6-inch rock that was in front of me. I hit the rock, rolled the bike and ended up with my new motorbike on top of me.
